For new clients

Coming to a therapy session for the first time, even choosing who to come to or when can be a really daunting experience. Here’s hoping the information on this page helps clarify all you may need to know and feel free to reach out should you have further questions.

Oh my, how do I do this?

Making the decision, or even becoming aware and accepting that you need to talk about a challenging issue or emotion can be daunting. Even more daunting can be seeking help with it and meeting with a stranger to do so, regardless of whether they are a paid professional.

The aim of this page is to help you understand what therapy is and the types of therapists and therapy on offer.

All the logistical information and questions you may have about attending therapy with Leo with any luck, should be answered here. If not, just let us know!

Attending a session

Attending in person

The practice is located at:

The Natural Medicine Centre
Suite G05, 460 PacificHighway
St Leonards – Crows Nest, NSW 2065

Finding the practice:

We are located inside the Natural Medicine Centre on the ground floor of this building.
Enter via the main doors to the left of the post office, at the lifts, veer left down the side corridor and you will see the entry door.

Accessibility:

Full wheelchair access is possible with only gentle gradient ramps between the practice and street. Unfortunately restrooms are not easily accessible by wheelchair.

  • In person – at St Leonards – Crows Nest, NSW 2065
  • Via Zoom nationally and globally
  • Via phone

Arriving by public transport

Coming to a session via public transport is about as good as it gets in Sydney with metro, train and bus all exceptionally close.

By metro:
We’re blessed to have the new Crows Nest metro stop diagonally opposite from the practice.

By train:
The T1 St Leonards Station is a 5min walk up a gentle hill.

By bus:
Buses stop almost outside by the metro or train stations. Buses come from Manly/Military Rd or City/North Sydney to the south. From the north in the Lane Cove and Chatswood directions.

Arriving by car

Its pretty easy to drive to, and park near the practice at any time of the day.
The practice is located between Oxley and Albany Sts on Pacific Highway.

From the motorway northbound:
Easiest exits are Willoughby Rd or Brook St. Coming up the highway from North Sydney is also comparatively easy, or from Reserve Rd in Artarmon.

From the motorway southbound:
Either turn onto the Pacific Highway at Lane Cove or exit for Reserve Road Artarmon. Miss these and you will need to backtrack from the North Sydney exit, so stay as left as you can if you do!

Street parking:
The practice is right at the convergence of Lane Cove, North Sydney and Willoughby councils, so ensure you check street signs.

Before 6pm:
Between Oxley and Albany Sts and other areas are numerous 2hrs meters. 1hr directly over the road from the practice before the metro station. On the practice side of the highway you can park in the Oxley St surrounds in mostly metered spots or for longer durations to 9hrs along the train line.

Evenings after 6pm:
Many metered spots become free including on the highway opposite the practice.

Free street parking:
Around Hume and Nicholson Sts on the practice side of the highway are many 2hr free spots and a few untimed spots on and toward River Road.

Council parking stations:
North Sydney Council offers Hume and Nicholson St carparks with 2hrs free nearby. Nicholson St is hidden under townhouses and less known. The more popular Hume St needs care around 6pm as there is an evening fee from this time, regardless of when you entered.

Private paid parking:
Behind the practice are a few paid stations, one offering 2hrs free on Nicholson St or under Coles near St Leonards Station.

Sessions by phone

Sessions by phone are comparatively straightforward.
Leo will call you at the allotted session time.

International calls:
Leo can call common destination countries including New Zealand, Singapore, the USA, UK and Canada along with other Western European and many Asian countries at no extra charge. You will be advised if this is not possible and Zoom is preferable.

Online sessions via Zoom

While its preferable to be able to meet in person, its not always possible or feasible. Zoom sessions are available to all clients and the practice operates across Australia and internationally

Usual Zoom link for sessions:
Unless you have been advised otherwise, this will be the regular Zoom link for your session with Leo:

Other platforms:
Sessions via other platforms such as Teams and WhatsApp are not possible and cannot be offered except via Zoom.

Security and confidentiality:
Zoom is well-encrypted and respected software offering a high standard of security. There is a waiting room enabled on the meeting managed by Leo to ensure your session will never be interrupted by another client.

Joining your session:
Most times it is just a matter of clicking on the link and waiting momentarily for Zoom to load.
If you are new to Zoom, the link will trigger your computer to ask you to install the Zoom client on your PC or Mac and on completion the meeting will automatically be joined.

Technical issues:
Leo is adept in supporting you to access the meeting. If you experience any issues joining, please call.
Mac users often experience security barriers on desktop or iPhones and need to authorise Zoom particularly to access the device camera.

Requirements for Zoom:
Most devices have an adequate webcam these days, or superior quality devices can be easily purchased that are plug and play. Your device’s microphone will suffice.
Most NBN connections are adequate in Australia, as is 4G or 5G via your mobile device. You need to ensure good mobile signal strength if joining via mobile and occasionally signals will be weaker indoors or cause of tower locations and geography. Your provider’s coverage map may assist in troubleshooting issues and being near a window usually improves a weaker signal.
